New Page to the Website: A Helpful Guide for Brides : Basics for Choosing Your Wedding Photographer

When I got engaged back in 2007 I decided I was going to plan my entire wedding myself.  Only those who have set out on this mission know how much hard work has to be put in to make this happen.  We look back wondering how in the world we ever did it and wish that we could have had more help.  To those who have yet to embark on this experience, this blog’s for you!  One of the many important aspects of this day is booking THE PHOTOGRAPHER.  I capitalize these words because I feel very strongly that this person cannot be just anyone who knows how to use a camera.  I was uncertain of who I wanted as my photographer and so my husband and I began to ask around to see if anyone was highly recommended.  We received two recommendations and only needed to meet with one as fate brought us the man for the job.  Little did I know that cold winter day I just met one of my best friends for life!

He is a wedding photojournalist and he is my mentor.  He is known by some as The Captain and by me as Peanut Butter.  He took me under his wing in December of 2008 and so I became Jelly.

His name is David Toth and his business ( is anticipating and capturing some of the most special moments in a young couples life on their wedding day.

Now I am not saying that all brides will have the same experience when they find “THE PHOTOGRAPHER” but I do believe it is very important to find a photographer that treats you like a friend, someone who is trustworthy, dependable and passionate about giving you the best experience they can.

I have now had the pleasure of being on both sides, the experience of being the bride and the awesome responsibility of capturing a couple’s wedding day moments.  I would like to share with you some knowledge and aid those brides that may need a little help in locating THE PHOTOGRAPHER.  I have created a page on my website to do just that.  Here is an excerpt from my guide for brides:

First off I would like to extend my most sincere congratulations to you and your fiance on your engagement.  Now the fun has begun in creating your perfect wedding.  If you are visiting this page then choosing the right photographer is very important to you.  Every photographer is different and will offer you a unique experience.  So how do you find the right one for you?

Here are my personal suggestions on how to do just that!

1.  Ask Around!

Family and Friends are always willing to suggest someone who they have had a great experience with.  Don’t be afraid to try social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter as they are great resources for getting referrals.

2.  Style

Determine your favorite style of wedding photography based on what evokes those emotions.  Each style requires a different type of involvement for the photographer.  Your photographer may use a combination of these styles to truly capture the essence of your day.
