Wedding Details: Samantha & Aaron 2010-07-17

FaceTweet it!

For me, when capturing wedding photography there are two aspects I concentrate on, details and moments.  The latter I will save for the next post.  Capturing details can be simply getting a shot of the object in its environment.  But even more exciting is completely setting up an artistic shot via taking said object and finding another characteristic about the environment that would complement that object.  Details can be tricky and can definitely be overlooked.  Having planned my entire wedding myself I know first hand the work that goes into getting all the details just perfect.  The following are details I try and make sure I capture every wedding:  Make-up materials, Hair appointment materials, Announcements, Flowers (Bouquets and decor), that day’s newspaper, Shoes, Dress, Heirlooms, Ceremony Area (inside and out), Wedding Bands (by far my favorite to work with), and Cake.  Those are the big ones for me but there are many more of course.  If I decide to move the objects I always ask myself what location could I put them in that would also show the background and it’s importance to the day.  I invested in a Nikon 105mm 2.8 VR Micro lens to give me the just the right tool to give the utmost attention to these special details.  Here are a few from Samantha and Aaron’s wedding back on the 17th of July, that I second shot for my good friend, Jason Prezant.
