When I’m not being a Wedding Photographer…

FaceTweet it!When I’m not being a Wedding Photographer I am exploring places around the Pennsylvania and Delaware area that would provide great backdrops for formal photography.  Now I know what you are thinking…wait a minute isn’t she a photojournalistic wedding photographer?? Yes I am, but every wedding I still capture the family group shots because they are desired for a historical purpose.  I would rather take them at a location that provides very beautiful natural backdrops if possible.

My exploring buddy, Graeme, and I have been busy as of late trying to find such places so that I can have something to show my brides if they so desire. The first one I would like to show is Valley Garden Park in Greenville, Delaware.  It is found down a beautiful stretch of woodsy road down Rt. 82. The Hoppes Reservoir is right down the road which also provides for some pretty backdrops as well.

The only minor detail that would steer me away from going to this beautiful spot is the approach.  It does require either walking down a long staircase or a long ramp which isn’t too bad going down but can be a little steep going back up.  I would suggest any group members to wear comfy shoes and take their formal shoes in hand…though gentlemen may be fine…it’s the heels I’m worried about!   The area is very green and has gigantic trees to provide a tremendous amount of shade which always helps with exposure!
Here are a few shots of the area and of course I had to get a couple of Graeme and I along the stream as well of one of him in the luscious grass.

Check back soon for our next adventure:  Gibraltar Garden, Wilmington, DE!

Thanks for reading!
