Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Harrisburg, PA 2010-09-16

FaceTweet it!It was a dark and rainy evening back on the 16th of September but many came out to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night Walk at City Island in Harrisburg, PA.  I was a little reluctant to shoot in the downpour with my gear but nothing busted so all is well.  My cousin, Cheryl, is a part of the local central Pennsylvania chapter and had asked if I had interest in photographing this year’s event.  I was so glad she asked as I have wanted to give something back to this charity for a long time as it does hit home for my family.  In August of 1999 my father was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia and within 3 months he was taken from this earth.  To witness what a human being goes through to try and beat this disease is heartbreaking and even more so when they do not succeed.  So to give hope to the many others struggling to overcome odds, helping out with this event was the very least I could do.  I honor my father with every photo as he would have been right beside me with his camera if he were still here.

I have posted an online gallery to view all the moments from that evening at:  http://daniellevennard.smugmug.com/Events/2010-09-16-Light-The-Night/13976755_rcREv#1027475732_mQ3To

If you see a photo that may speak to you and could spare a buck or two please purchase the photo.  All the proceeds from the sales will be donated right back to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
